"Maggie Q Joins King of Fighters"
Link: Monstersand Critics.com
Maggie Q has signed to join the cast of “King of Fighters” – the English-language big screen adaptation of the hit Japanese video game.
Variety reports the live-action film is currently shooting in Vancouver with Hong Kong's Gordon Chan handling directing duties. The film also stars Sean Faris, Ray Park, Will Yun Lee and David Leitch.
“King of Fighters” is shooting on a $12 million budget and is co-production from several companies – including Taiwan's Double Edge Entertainment, Japan's Micott & Basara, U.S company Inferno Entertainment, the U.K.'s Scion Films, Axis Entertainment, Convergence Entertainment and Singapore's Innoform Media.
The film is scheduled to shot until mid-January and arrive in theaters towards the end of 2009.

And the rest is titled under Maggie Q and has the same format (also starring Sean Faris...*blah blah blah*)

» New Released "King of Fighters" Film Info | 08 Dec 2008

"The movie stars Maggie Q (Live Free and Die Hard), Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), Francoise Yip (Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem), Monique Ganderton (Supernatural) and the coolest Sith Lord ever, Ray Park (a.k.a. Darth Maul from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace). It also looks like the King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world."

Move over Street Fighter, you’re not the only old school brawler with an upcoming movie. MovieSet Blog has revealed the details about the upcoming King of Fighter movie, directed by Gordon Chan and starring Maggie Q, Sean Faris, Will Yun Lee, Francoise Yip, Monique Ganderton and Ray Park (Ray Park played Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace).

The movie will put a spin on the classic brawler by introducing a sci-fi twist where the characters are whisked away to another dimension to battle an evil power (Oh boy). King of Fighters is set for a 2010 release.

Fighters hit streets
Hollywood North by Andrea Woo

***
It’s been more than a year and a half since buzz hit the Internet that a King of Fighters movie would be made, and next week, filming for the live-action flick will finally begin in Vancouver. Maggie Q (Live Free Or Die Hard, Mission Impossible III) and Sean Faris (a relative unknown with abs I don’t hate) will star in the martial arts movie based on the video game franchise, while Hong Kong’s award-winning Gordon Chan (Beast Cops, 2000 AD) will direct. Filming in town is expected to last from Monday until mid-January.

The folks at the Lyric Stage Project premiered The 21st Floor yesterday, an original full-length play about the city of Vancouver through the lives of its residents by artistic director Michéle Lonsdale Smith. The description on the press release: “Set high above an increasing unrest in the streets below, 10 people are sequestered inside their designer laps of luxury, comfortably numb within spaces held aloft by concrete, steel and status. But when the unthinkable meets the inevitable, the cracks begin to show.” I’ve yet to see it — hoping to soon — but am thinking Robson Arms meets Crash. The play runs until Nov. 22 at the PAL Theatre (581 Cardero St.), with tickets available through www.ticketstonight.ca.
